Flower Power isn’t just a restaurant, it’s also an elegant flower shop, right next door. The owner, Carlos Filipe, isn’t just a restaurant owner but also a decorator and plastic artist. The connection between the different aspects of Flower Power is clearly a result of the different facets of its owner and it’s part of what makes this such a special place.
The decor is one of the most fun aspects of the space. It changes with the seasons and is always done by the owner, usually with colorful materials and something as out of the box as a table and chairs nailed to a wall. Weather permitting, you can have your meal outside, watching the people and trams go by. The staff is helpful and nice, as welcoming as the space. The only real shame here is that it closes at 8 pm.
I recommend trying the daily specials, which are always great and offer something for everyone. There’s usually soup and a choice of meat/fish/vegetarian dishes, any of which will go well with the juice of the day. If you’re still not convinced, you can resort to the fixed menu, which has fail-safes like cheeseburger and tortilha. For dessert, there is the wonderful "O Melhor Bolo de Chocolate do Mundo" ("The Best Chocolate Cake in the World"), a creamy chocolate cake with cookie interior.
After lunch, don’t forget to stop by the flower shop after and grab a bouquet for someone special!
