HOUSE OF WONDERS
Cascais / 15 €
Mezze for sharing (cold mezze + hot mezze)
Bank card, Cash
House of Wonders is a dream come true for its owner, Anna, from Holland, who transformed a full house to what is now a must-go place in Cascais. It’s a restaurant, a cafe, a rooftop terrace and a shop. In common, all the spaces have the beautiful decoration and the cozy environment, providing a relaxing and enjoyable time for those who decide to visit this gem in the middle of Cascais.
The restaurant serves delicious vegetarian food, hot and cold dishes, prepared by two chefs, one Syrian and the other specialised in Mediterranean food. For a lunch or dinner for two I suggest you to choose the “Mezze for sharing” (24,50€) where you can have a little bit of all the cold dishes, from the buffet, and the trilogy of the daily specials (hot). At the buffet you can choose from hummus, eggplant patê, roasted vegetables, among others, and you can find as the daily specials, moussaka and broad beans with mushrooms or risotto, for example. If you want to stick to one dish you can also choose just one of those options or go for the veggie burguer (9,95€). Either way, your taste buds will experience a party of flavors, and if you have any doubts or don’t know what to choose the staff is very nice and prepared to explain all the dishes and suggest you the best option for your meal.
Still have room for dessert? There are several options, from the delicious chocolate cake (4€) to the vegan dessert (5€), that resembles a cheesecake, made with passion fruit and coconut. These can be enjoyed at the restaurant or, if you are up to explore the whole place, at the cafe of the first floor or the rooftop terrace. The first floor cafe is perfect to have a light snack or a natural juice and it is equally well decorated and cozy. The rooftop terrace is situated at the top of this beautiful building where you can watch the sunset while seated comfortably on the cushions. Perfect to have a drink in good company.
House of Wonders is a true gem in the middle of Cascais and it is worthy of the 30 minute travel from Lisbon. I recommend you to pay it a visit, whether for breakfast, lunch, dinner or at any time of the day really!
