Matchik-Tchik is a small restaurant that almost goes unnoticed in the middle of several bars in Bica. Yet the delicious traditional dishes cooked by Dona Fátima - a Mozambican cook - bring customers with its inviting smell and make this place special.
The menu is not long, yet choosing what to eat is still a hard choice. The mushrooms as an appetizer are mandatory, while the Chicken curry or Matapa (cassava with seafood) fight for the leading role. All these delicacies can be enjoyed with a hot sauce, but be careful, it’s only for the braver ones. The only thing we miss is the fact that it is not open for lunch.
The term Matchik-Tchik - celebration or get together - fits perfectly with the feeling you get from the space, which regularly hosts small music and poetry events. Beautiful and colored capulanas, which are a traditional cloth from Mozambique, help bring a taste of the Pearl of the Indian Ocean to Lisbon.
